  • Install and inspect switch-controlling mechanism on trolley wire and switch in bed of track bed, using hand tools and test equipment.
  • Inspect and test gate crossings, signals, and signal equipment, such as interlocks and hotbox detectors.
  • Inspect electrical units of railroad grade crossing gates to detect loose bolts, defective electrical connections and parts.
  • Test signal circuit connections, using standard electrical testing equipment.
  • Replace defective wiring, broken lenses, or burned-out light bulbs.
  • Tighten loose bolts, using wrench, and test circuits and connections by opening and closing gate.
