    Kettle Operator
    • Weigh solid or liquid chemical additives, using balance or floor scale.
    • Dump ingredients into kettle, using overhead hoist.
    • Turn valves to load kettles with monomer, catalyst, and modifier solutions.
    • Start agitator and turn steam or water valves to activate and control polymerization.
    • Observe and record dial and gauge readings, and draw and test samples to determine degree of completion of polymerization.
    • Turn valves to release vacuum and to cool batch to terminate polymerization.
    • Start pumps to transfer nonreacted materials to rerun tank.
    • Flush kettle with water and change filter socks, and clean kettle, using brushes and cleaning solvents.
    • Remove reactor cover and manually dump catalyst in reactor.
