Motivation is the ability to stimulate to action. It is positive when it is based on positive incentives, and negative when it is based on fear and negative consequences.

Positively motivated people are motivated by:

  • Having a clarity of purpose.
  • Working in a creative and innovative work environment.
  • Feeling that their high performance is recognized and rewarded.
  • Knowing that they are expected to manage themselves.

Negatively motivated people are motivated by:

  • Fear of failure.
  • Fear of rejection.
  • Fear of embarrassment.
  • Fear of loss of love.
  • Fear of loss of employment.
  • Fear of criticism.
  • Lack of trust.
