Position Summary
Working with the Regional Sales Manager, the Field Systems Engineer is responsible for opportunity qualification, product demonstrations, technical presentations, and on-site product installation, training and support.
Responsibilities:
Assists sales manager in qualifying sales opportunities, and conducting product demonstrations and technical presentations remotely or at customer locations/F5 facilities.
Travels to customer sites to implement F5 products into their network architecture, including installation and customization or upgrades of both hardware and software.
Provides on-site training to customers and partners about use and administration of F5 products.
Qualifications:
Six-plus years experience supporting technical sales of enterprise network solutions to corporate accounts, or an undergraduate degree and three-plus years experience.
In-depth knowledge of networking technologies including TCP/IP, DNS (UNIX) Admin, and experience with switches, routers and firewalls in intranet/Internet/extranet environments.
Strong UNIX O/S knowledge required, and NT experience a plus.
Solid interpersonal and presentation skills, with ability to articulate complex technology simply.
Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems.
Self-motivated and flexible.
Experience with GateD, NameD, SSH, TCP dump, OSPF, BGP, static and dynamic routing desired.
CCIE certification a plus.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Duties are performed in an office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table, and require the ability to use a computer keyboard, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material. Must be able to provide and work from a home office. This job may require the ability to travel via automobile or airplane, and being on call periodically while working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends). Regional and local travel required: Expect between 25% and 50% on-site work with customers and partners..
