Antioch University seeks an extraordinary educator committed to academic excellence and learner-centered pedagogy for its distinctive, thriving Ph.D. in Leadership and Change Program. Nationally recognized as a "paradigm shifting innovation" in doctoral education (Educause, July/Aug 07), the program's graduates have won dissertation awards and recognition for their leadership that "wins victories for humanity."

We are seeking an experienced scholar-practitioner with expertise in leadership and change, and scholarship that engages inclusive learning communities and diverse workplaces. Preferred areas: K-12 school change, environmental leadership, or leadership in health care and professional communities. Responsibilities include: teaching interdisciplinary core curriculum at quarterly residencies; overseeing students' research and individualized learning; facilitating technologically enabled learning; advising; chairing and serving on dissertation committees; and collaborative involvement with faculty team in program governance.

With a distinctive learning-achievement-based low-residency model, the program's goal is to educate professionals as engaged scholars and reflective practitioners. The program's geographically dispersed faculty and 120+ students engage in a dynamic virtual learning community between quarterly residencies held at Antioch campuses in four states. Students are highly accomplished and diverse leaders of change in their professions, disciplines and communities.

Our interdisciplinary core faculty are nationally/internationally recog- nized, fully engaged in student learning, and committed to education for the common good. Current faculty include: Richard Couto, Philomena Essed, Alan Guskin, Elizabeth Holloway, Carolyn Kenny, Mitchell Kusy, Jon Wergin and Peter Vaill.

Successful applicants must have a doctorate in an area related to the core curriculum, substantial experience supervising dissertations; established record of research and practice relevant to leadership and change; and, significant experience with graduate education for adult learners. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience with education experimentation, competence teaching applied research, and who are excited by an innovative program with a collaborative faculty and a culturally diverse student body. Faculty work from home offices. Significant computer involvement is necessary. Quarterly travel is required. Personal qualities include self-directedness and high degree of accountability to the program, faculty colleagues and students. Start date is Fall 2008, some flexibility.
