Background
The Division of Internet/Intranet Application Services (DIIAS) is a multifaceted unit of technicians dedicated to fortifying the Internet and Intranet interests of the Agency. The UNIX Server Administration Team (USAT) supports highly visible, mission critical systems for Agency and worldwide usage. This team facilitates environments for our intranet and maintains and supports the Internet for the entire Agency on a daily basis. Some of the major platforms and applications under our management include:
UNIX Heavy * runs WebSphere Internet applications such as Business Services Online (BSO), Electronic Messaging Services (EME) and Government to Government Services (GSO). Unix Heavy runs Websphere Intranet applications such as Customer Help and Information Program (CHIP), Core Services, Electronic Disability Collection System (EDCS) and Electronic Folder.
Objective
The objective of this task is to build an infrastructure in support of the SSA External Test Environment (ETE), due to be ready by January 2009 and on-going Unix System Administration for the SSA UNIX Internet and Internet Environment.
Sub-Task 1: Building a UNIX Server Infrastructure
Purpose: Design and maintain the 24x7 UNIX server infrastructures and support security software on several SSA mission critical UNIX Web Servers in support of the ETE..
Activities
* Design and maintain the 24x7 UNIX server infrastructures that support the ETE.
* Maintain the UNIX Servers and secure the servers according to the Policy Compliance Management requirements.
* Provide system and log analysis, performance tuning and monitoring to ensure security for all DIIAS UNIX Web servers.
* Maintain and support eTrust Access Control for the USAT UNIX ETE user accounts.
* Maintain and support CA eTrust Directory servers that support the ETE..
* Maintain and support Solaris 10 on the UNIX servers in the ETE
Sub-Task 2: UNIX System Administrator - Internet/Intranet Application Support and Initiatives
Purpose: Design and maintain the 24x7 UNIX server infrastructures that support the ETE.
Activities
* Troubleshoot and resolve problems for the ETE.
* Support, implement and maintain the ETE and updates coming into the environment.
* Present status information on issues and problems at the weekly team meetings.
Hours and Location of Service
Full time support is required within a flexible band of 6 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday, excluding Federal Holidays. However individual schedules shall be set in response to the needs of the Government.
Scheduled and unplanned outages, upgrades and maintenance may require extra hours in addition to the regular work day.
Pagers and Laptops
A personal pager will be administered by SSA and carried to facilitate 24x7 support. In addition, the contractor shall participate in rotating pager coverage. The rotating pager will be provided by SSA. The Contractor will also have a laptop with them (provided by SSA) for off-hour work from home for a 24x7 support of the applications.
Travel
Minimal travel may be required.
