Description .
Lupus Foundation of America seeks a Walk Manager to implement Walk for Lupus Now events in four major metropolitan cities. Ideal candidate will have 3+ years of special event experience, documented success in growing events and reaching goals, experience recruiting and training volunteers, the ability to work from a home office, be located near a major metropolitan airport and travel 20% of the time.
Specific Responsibilities: Provide overall management of Walk for Lupus Now events, including planning, implementation and post-event cultivation of attendees Responsible for achieving revenue goals through solicitation of sponsorship, and participant fundraising efforts Recruitment of volunteers and management of planning committees Identification and solicitation of event sponsors Recruitment of event participants Maintain frequent contact with all participants through telephone, email and TeamRaiser tools Encourage participants to reach fundraising goals through motivating and inspiring messages Support and employ best practices of Walk for Lupus Now program Work closely with Walk Coordinator on all logistical aspects of event Coordinate and conduct meetings related to events including creating agendas and support materials Meet regularly with event committees and subcommittees to ensure success of events Maintain control of and stay within event budgets.

Qualifications: An experienced fund-raising professional with a minimum three years experience in successfully implementing special events and a proven track record of reaching fundraising goals Excellent verbal and written communication skills Independent, self-motivated person Excellent organizational skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Able to work from home Ability to travel Experience working with volunteers and volunteer committees Bachelors degree preferred Computer literacy required; TeamRaiser and Convio experience a plus Reliable transportation Ability to lift 35 pounds.
