Production Support/JR UNIX Administrator
Scivantage currently has an opening for an Operations Analyst to work at the Bank of America. This is a long term indefinite consulting spot that is being offered as a full time employee of Scivantage. This position is on a rotating shift and weekend/nighttime work will be required. This position (after 2-4 weeks) will be a work from home position.
Operations Analyst:
Operations Analyst will have a key role in supporting system monitoring, performance reporting, and change management process for the production systems. Working with engineers and other Technology Operations personnel to provide production system monitoring and escalate production issues. In addition, the role involves monitoring and system verification support for the Technology Operations team when performing maintenance work and other changes to the production environment. Position operates on a 24/7-on call shift rotation basis.
Responsibilities:
Provide system monitoring support, both with a view on the hardware and core software applications running in the production environment
Understand the basic architecture of the applications to provide analysis for problem identification, diagnosis and impact assessment
Identify meaningful service level metrics and develop collection and reporting methods for those metrics
Support through monitoring and other tools the implementation of system changes
Gather and analyze system data for capacity planning, performance improvement, and storage management in partnership with operations engineers and development teams
Create management reports on system performance
Required Skills:
A network or systems consultant with an emphasis in interpreting data (data analyst) specific to the aforementioned software tools.
Will look at screens and output all day to monitor system health.
Will take action on critical and other alerts and resolve them directly or provide sufficient data to the group the problem is given to so that the problem can be quickly resolved.
Should be able to look at alert and understand what the general problem area is.
Will implement, test, maintain and tweak these software tools.
Should be able to setup the CA products to report the data BofA needs and is interested in.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Financial Industry Experience is a must.
Experience in Application Support role or group.
Familiarity with monitoring tools like (HPOV/Spectrum/Nagios)
UNIX Systems Administration skills desired but not required.
Ability to do Problem incident management.
Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, security, access control, networking infrastructure (switches, routers, firewalls).
Experience writing Shell and/or Perl script.
Familiarity with databases from an administrative viewpoint.
Familiarity with SQL.
Familiarity with some of the following components/technologies: Java VMs, tomcat, apache, SSL, DNS, LDAP, XML, PGP
