Job Description:
The company is a marketer of motor fuels and related products through retail outlets in the states of Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia. The Company is one of four major corporate profit centers Group. The candidate reports directly to the General Manager for the evaluation of performance and direction of duties.
The Wholesale Area Manager is responsible for the attainment of sales and profit objectives within the assigned territory. The Field Sales Representative accounts are classified as Leasee Dealers, Open Dealers and Management Fee operations.
The Management Fee operators are paid a commission for gasoline sales. These operations are a system by which Company owns the gasoline and controls the price. The Field Sales Representative is directly responsible in these locations to insure the operators are meeting the terms of their agreement, including posting established prices and proper report submission. Field Sales Representative insures that customer needs are satisfied properly. The Field Sales Representative must stay abreast of market conditions and fee arrangements; retail prices are monitored by the incumbent. The Field Sales Representative will insure that the fee amount provides the operator sufficient revenue and still attains corporate return goals. The fee level is to be established, monitored and adjusted by the incumbent, as needed, and as provided in the Fee Agreement to insure a competitive position is maintained. The Field Sales Representative will oversee the collection process at these locations. All money/inventory of company will be properly monitored and managed.

The Leasee Dealer locations are operated by an independent business person who controls their prices and operation. It is the Field Sales Representative duty to promote company and its products to their class of trade. Company sells products to these individuals at a Dealer Tankwagon (DTW) posted price. This price is determined at the Main Office based on numerous factors including competitive price surveys and local market conditions that the incumbent supplies. This class of trade operates facilities owned by Company. The incumbent must monitor all outstanding balances including rent payments. Image, hours of operations, pricing, customer service standards must also be monitored to ensure that each location meets Company and Supplier Brand standards. The incumbent is responsible for the recruitment and selection of new Dealers. The incumbent must ensure that each Dealer is properly trained for, aware of and properly monitors underground tank systems, product inventory, Stage II Vapor Recovery, etc.

The Wholesale Area Manager monitors accounts receivable to insure adherence to company credit policies. When necessary, incumbent takes appropriate action to resolve outstanding account balances.

For all 3 classes of trade, the incumbent will use various Company programs to assist in the primary role of Business Counseling. The main format used is the REP Program, Retailer Excellence Process. This format is a comprehensive program for all retailers.

Participation, including meetings and training workshops, execution and review are all critical elements handled by the Wholesale Area Manager.
Field Sales Representative Experience in the following businesses is a PLUS;
Mobil Exxon, Shell, CITCO, Sunoco, Oil/Petroleum Companies etc. OR Distribution Company experience will is be a big plus

The Field Sales Representative meets with the General Manager periodically to review goals and objectives. Incumbent keeps supervisor abreast of marketing activities within assigned territory. Incumbent recommend changes in the mode of operation such as operations changes, equipment replacement, Dealer changes, etc. The incumbent assists in the preparation of sales projections and annual EVA plans for assigned locations and commits to the attainment of same.

The incumbent has the responsibility to aggressively seek new Motor Fuel accounts/sites. In this regard, the incumbent will assist the New Business Manager in securing new dealer business. Upon determination that a possible account/site is available, a written marketing proposal is to be presented to the President.

The company has a responsibility to our customers to provide and maintain a safe environment at each location. The incumbent insures that all environmental regulations and proper safety policies are complied with.

The incumbent works with, and in support of, other company personnel in the performance of duties. Further, the incumbent participates in local community activities so as to enhance personal contacts and company image.

Ideal Candidates will have Petroleum Retail experience
3+ Years Experience
Exxon Retail Experience is a Very Big PLUS
Each individual will have approximately 35 gas station locations in his/her region. A company car is provided and the employee can work from home.
Key Job Accountabilities:

1. Build positive relationships with Lessee and Open Dealer classes of trade
2. Meet or exceed MF volume and margin goals for the territory
3. Control variable expenses at or below plan
4. Manage receivable balances and limit EFT return exposure
5. Frequently provide competitive price survey information, minimum of once/week
6. Secure location image excellence; achieve or exceed CVP image scores objectives
7. Ensure environmental and regulatory compliance; follow White Book procedures
8. Actively solicit new business recruit one new account each year
9. Develop dealer bench strength to accomplish goal of no closed stores?
10. Present new dealer contracts and leases goal of 100% of new leases signed
11. Recruit Dealers - upgrade chain; make Dealer changes as needed after first recruiting, interviewing and recommending the candidate(s) to the Dealer Panel Review Board
