DESCRIPTION .
Connections Academy, a school without walls , is a virtual educational program serving K 10 students in a non-classroom-based environment. A Parent or Learning Coach along with a certified teacher work with students using a standards-based, online/offline hybrid curriculum supported by a host of web-based technology tools and resources. This is a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting new schooling model that leverages new technologies, capitalizes on recent policy initiatives, and creates alternative teaching and learning options for students, parents and teachers.
The individual in this position will be working with a team of other developers, DBAs, testers, and designers. Due to the nature of this position, the applicant will need the ability to work from home or during off-hours as necessary. The ideal candidate will have:
Excellent SQL skills, with the ability to generate complex SQL queries from an entity-relationship diagram.
At least one year of experience developing ASP.NET applications using C#.
Several years of experience developing applications for the Web.
Experience with creating user and server controls and an understanding of the applicable ASP.NET Page lifecycle issues.
A preference toward Visual Studio 2003's source code editor, rather than its design mode.
Experience with creating semantically-correct XHTML, using CSS for layout and presentation.
Experience with other, related Web technologies, such as JavaScript, regular expressions, and XML.
An understanding of how to use SQL Server's Query Analyzer for developing and analyzing ad hoc SQL, stored procedures, triggers, and DDL.
Experience using ANSI SQL (e.g., "inner join") syntax.
High-speed Internet access at home.
The ability to demonstrate work experience by providing examples, samples, and source code.
Duties
Develops Web applications by studying existing technology architecture; analyzing browser compatibility techniques; evaluating solution alternatives; developing prototypes; building n-tier, scalable, and multimedia applications; programming objects, events, functions, error trapping, and data verification; and completing documentation.
Enhances team accomplishments and competence by productively working with other members of the team.
Adheres to established development policies, procedures, and standards.
Maintains technical knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
Accomplishes department and organization missions by completing related tasks as needed.
