DESCRIPTION .
FIRST NONPROFIT INSURANCE COMPANY is adding to staff (we currently have 65 employees). We are a successful and growth-oriented property-casualty insurance company with 28 years of experience as an insurer solely dedicated to insuring nonprofit social service organizations. We are NOT a non-profit organization.

PROPERTY/CASUALTY UNDERWRITER:
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of casualty, property, automobile and umbrella coverages and their standard rating practices.
Knowledge of the Insurance Services Offices definitions and know how to categorize the client s operations and assign class codes to each insured.
Math knowledge to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interests, commissions, percentages, area, circumferences and volume.
COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of a Windows environment is needed, especially in Word and Excel. The company is paperless.
Ability to act as one s own secretary.
PROBLEM SOLVING/ANALYSIS:
Must be able to compare and contrast complex information.
Must be able to make arbitrary decisions based on knowledge, talking with others, looking at what we did before, etc.
Determine that the acceptability, price, policy terms and conditions are in accordance with First Nonprofit s underwriting authority guidelines (appetite and price controls).
Must have the ability to solve problems.
Must be able to read, write, and interpret complex information.
Must have strong negotiating skills.
CUSTOMER SERVICE:
Must be able to present company s information and respond to questions from insurance agencies and clients, orally or in writing.
Maintain timely and courteous contact with agencies and clients.
COMMUNICATION:
Must keep the Manager and/or peers informed of progress, issues, possible problems, etc.
Must have strong people skills.
Must have strong writing skills.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT:
Must have the ability to work without close supervision.
Must be able to deal with time pressures. .
