DESCRIPTION .
Job Title: Environmental Specialist / Engineer to support Exelon Texas Combined License (COL) project
Duties and Responsibilities
1 Site Selection Activities Support
1.1 Generally, research relevant regulatory documents, industry guidance, and Exelon prepared information, to familiarize oneself as to the process, issues, and material relating to the requirements of the EPRI Siting Guide.
1.2 At the direction of the designated Project lead:
1.2.1 Perform reviews of the candidate sites to determine suitability of the site to meet NRC and NEPA environmental requirements.
1.2.2 Support and manage the work of environmental experts retained by Exelon to support site selection activities.
1.2.3 Participate as a core team member of the site selection team.
1.2.4 Manage the activities of the Site Selection Contractor
1.2.5 Participate on the Site selection team that will challenge the work and scoring of the candidate sites.
1.2.6 Prepare for and attend, as directed, various Site selection team meetings. Work may include:
1.2.6.1 Research issues.
1.2.6.2 Formulate options for Exelon.
1.2.6.3 Make recommendations to Exelon regarding what its position should be.
1.2.6.4 Prepare material as necessary for Exelon Project Team meetings.
1.2.6.5 Ensure that Exelon management is briefed on issues and position(s).
1.2.6.6 Work with the parties to resolve comments and present an acceptable united approach.
Exelon Combined Construction and Operating License (COL) Support
2.1 Lead individual responsible for the preparation of the environmental sections of Exelon COL application. Responsibilities include:
2.1.1 Attendance at related meetings
2.1.2 Ensure that all interim and final work products of the contractor have been reviewed and Exelon s comments provided on the relevant materiel
2.1.3 Work to resolve comments on this material to the satisfaction of Exelon management
2.1.4 Maintain awareness of industry issues pertaining to environmental issues affecting COL applications.
2.1.5 Participate on various industry environmental-related tasks forces and forums ensuring that Exelon s interest are presented and protected.
2.1.5.1 Provide written status reports on activities.
2.1.6 Lead point of contact with the NRC s environmental PM assigned to review Exelon COL application.
2.1.7 Lead point of contact with Exelon legal counsel on all COL-related environmental matters.
2.2 Responsible for managing the timely responses to NRC issued environmental RAIs or other requests for information.

Work Location: Preferred Exelon s Kennett Square, PA offices. Exelon will consider work from home or business office location.
3.2 Hours per week: 40
3.2.1 Overtime may be required subject to exigent task needs

2. PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE
This contract shall be in effect from 10/15/06 to 03/31/07. However, Exelon s intent is to fill this position for the duration of the COL licensing proceeding. Exelon will consider extending this assignment subject to available funding and needs.

3. Qualifications
.
3.1. Required
3.1.1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering or related degree (i.e., Chemistry).
3.1.2. Minimum of 15 years professional experience in the area of large electrical generating facility environmental facility permitting
3.1.3. Minimum 5 years experience supporting the environmental compliance programs for an operating nuclear generating facility, or other nuclear facility (i.e., DOE laboratory, etc.).
3.1.4. Minimum of 5 years experience performing environmental due diligence
3.1.5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
3.1.6. Proficient in the MS Office suite of software applications.
3.2. Preferred
3.2.1. Experience with the environmental aspects of 10 CFR, Part 52 Early Site Permitting, and /or 10 CFR, Part 51, License Renewal
3.2.2. Experience supporting the operation of a nuclear generating facility or large fossil generating facility from an environmental perspective.
3.2.3. Experience with Texas environmental law, statutes and regulations .
REQUIREMENTS .
BS in Environmental Science or Engineering or related degree (ie chemistry).
Minimum of 15 years professional experience in the area of large electrical generating facility permitting.
Minimum of 5 years experience supporting the environmental compliance programs for an operating nuclear generating facility, or other nuclear facility.
Minimum 5 years experience performing environmental due diligence. .
