Who is our ideal candidate? Ideal candidate will be able to independently underwrite the more difficult individual life insurance appliatons within guidelins set for the issuance of policies on a standard or substandard basis; will have authority to approve cases up to $5,000,000; will provide training and guidance to lower level life underwriters. Will have Bachelor's degree or equivalent, 4-6 years underwriting experience, CLU or FLMI designation, excellent written and oral communication skills. This position would be either a Sr. Life Underwriter or Principle Life Underwriter, based on experience. .
What are the job responsibilities? 1. Provide training and guidance to lower level life underwriters.
2. Determine whether to accept, modify, or decline a risk through evaluation of an individual's medical history or physical condition, occupational hazards, financial background, insurable interest, and other information pertinent to the decision. Develop and maintain contact with the field force to gather information on which to base decisions. Explain and defend underwriting courses of action, Authorize reinsurance of policy when risk is high. Make final decision with concurrence/approval from appropriate parties. Review cases exceeding underwriter's review level.
3. Continue to acquire knowledge of products and various state regulations. Continue professional development activities and coursework.
4. Other duties as assigned. .
