As a Senior Underwriter, you are the highest-level underwriter designation within the underwriting team. In this role, you will underwrite and review submitted files to analyze for capacity, capital, character, collateral, and condition. This includes ensuring that loan requests meet program and product specifications or counteroffer to a different product and/or program when appropriate. In addition, you will communicate decision (approval, suspense, denial) to appropriate individuals within JPMorgan Chase, uphold fair lending practices of JPMorgan Chase Mortgage, meet targets for productivity, quality and customer satisfaction, and perform second review of contract underwritten denials from all areas.
Minimum of Three year experience as an underwriter
Minimum of Five years in the mortgage lending business
Demonstrated expertise in Government, Agency (FHA/VA), and Jumbo guidelines
Active government underwriting within the past 24 months (can be pre or postclosing)
Underwriting experience must include manual decisions
All government designations preferred (FHA DE, VA Auto, VA Lapp)
Excellent analytical and decision making skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to communicate well in difficult situations
Strong negotiation skills
Thorough knowledge of complex personal and business financial analysis and is proficient at cash flow and Adjusted Growth Income (AGI) self-employed income analysis and corporate tax returns.
Minimum of one year experience in underwriting first and/or second mortgages.
Demonstrated experience in underwriting both manually and through the use of automated underwriting systems.
Thorough knowledge of Mortgage Insurance policies
