Sales Engineer
Rockville based software product company has immediate opening for a Sales Engineer. Will manage the product presentations, architecture reviews, application discussions, as well as developing prototypes.
This Engineer will work closely with other members of the Sales team by providing knowledge and support of product capabilities. The Sales Engineer reports to the Vice President of Sales.
Responsibilities:
The Ability to obtain an expert knowledge of products.
Present and demonstrate software products to technical and non-technical audiences.
Act as primary technical point-of-contact during pre-sales activities, implementation, and transition to post-sales support.
Respond to customer requests for information including the completion of RFIs and RFPs.
Develop customer prototypes using HTML, DHTML, Java code, and JSP/JSF.
Work closely with customers to plan and conduct on-site "proof of concept/benchmark" tests of products.
Architect solutions and work closely with professional services team to develop customer implementation plans as part of sales proposals.
Work closely with Product Management and Engineering.
Qualifications:
Candidates who have a technical or development background and who have the ability to develop customer-facing skills or related IT operations experience in an IT operations role(Java Preferred), Software Engineer, Development Lead, etc.)
Ability to handle a fast paced, dynamic environment.
Effective live and web-based presentation skills with proficiency in PowerPoint.
A creative problem solving ability and ability to learn new technologies.
Self-motivated and posses the ability to quickly understand complex customer IT infrastructures.
Must have a strong understanding of Java Application Development SQL, XML, JSP/Web, Taglibs, OLAP and associated tools and technologies.
Hands-on experience with the following: Solaris, Linux, WebLogic, WebSphere, Apache, Tomcat, or other common web server and application server.
Report development.
Flexibility as demonstrated in ability to travel as required, to work from home, to work hours required to make the territory successful.
Travel - 30% to 50%
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent business or technical education required.
