What will you do?
Potbelly Sandwich Works has over 185 company-owned locations and we plan to open over 50 stores across the U.S. in 2008. Our plan is to spread the Potbelly Love and make people happy in every market we serve. To help us with that mission, we are looking to add another member to our marketing team who will work with an awesome team of Potbelly fanatics.
The Regional Marketing Manager (RMM) will play a key role in increasing brand awareness and driving our business on the regional and local level and will support our stores in Michigan, Minnesota and Ohio. RMMs will work with the home office marketing organization and their regional teams to reach customers in personal, memorable and meaningful ways, while building the Potbelly brand.
A Potbelly Regional Marketing Manager will develop and direct sales building programs in partnership with the local Operations team. The RMM will also support national initiatives, and will create a communication strategy to inform all stores in the field about new roll outs and programs that have marketing implications
Some of the main foci of an RMM include managing the new store opening process, new product launches, hosting field marketing workshops and training sessions, and facilitating overall communication to the field pertaining to marketing initiatives.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
1. Management of Local Store Marketing Program
We are, at our heart, a grass roots marketing organization. We execute numerous local events around new store openings, and through charity fundraising efforts. We seek out opportunities that build brand awareness, and that drive traffic to the stores. The RMM will manage event budgets and help prioritize the market’s needs.
2. Opportunity Store Marketing
RMMs will partner with the regional leadership to identify and create marketing plans for Opportunity Stores (stores designated as first priority for sales building efforts) and leverage the DMs and Managers to best support these stores with the allocated resources
3. Sales Building Training and Coaching
RMMs will host regional training sessions for managers to make sure the field is aligned on marketing best practices. RMMs will provide ongoing support and coaching to the District Managers, and store managers to make them more effective sales builders.
4. Market Wide Special Events
Building community goodwill and relationships through participation in community events and sponsorships on a regional basis is very important to us. The RMM will identify events regionally that are a good fit with Potbelly and get us involved via sampling, and distributing marketing materials. RMMs will be responsible for managing their market wide budgets. With their regional operators, they will ensure their dollars are being spent wisely, and in a way that best suits the needs of the market
What do you need?
Education. BA degree, preferably in Marketing or related subject
Experience. At least 5 years of marketing experience. A background in event marketing and coordination, or restaurant industry experience is definitely a plus.
Skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills. A natural leader and teacher. Ability and desire to work with minimal guidance; strong initiative. Outgoing and enthusiastic and fun. Strong written and oral communication skills. Detail oriented. Basic Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Qualities. Passionate, energetic, flexible, highly motivated, and able to work independently.
Must live in the Detroit area with the ability to travel and a vehicle in which to travel. Travel is up to 50%. Willing to work non-traditional hours. Will work from home.
