Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE -
These particular Supervisory positions will help manage the facility's warehouse activities.
Assist with the Distribution Center's management and administrative functions. Duties may include maintenance issues, accounting issues, personnel issues, training, operations, safety/shrink control, inventory control and customer service. Assist in managing operations providing support to field locations, ensure that orders are selected, packaged, loaded and dispatched safely, timely, efficiently and economically, and that proper records are maintained.
MAJOR TASKS, RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES -
Participate in applicant interview process; provide hiring recommendations to site management and HR.
Direct/assign work to associates in his/her department.
Interpret and enforce company policies in his/her department; recommend appropriate discipline and/or discharge when necessary.
Provide input on associate performance for purposes of performance reviews; recommend performance ratings and merit increases to hiring manager. May serve as the MOD in the absence of other designated facility management and be an authorized key carrier.
NATURE AND SCOPE -
Typically reports to a location manager.
Direct reports generally include 1-7 Associates.
Typically requires frequent persuasion or influencing of others. Usually assigns and reviews work of others.
Typically assignments vary and follow a few different procedures that allow choices from a few solutions.
Typically considers among a few options and past practice when solving problems.
Typically progress or results of work is regularly checked and prior approval is required before changing standard work procedures.
ENVIRONMENTAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Under regular pressure to meet deadlines, quotas and/or must frequently deal with difficult issues related to people or situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS -
EDUCATION REQUIRED -
The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.
YEARS OF RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE - 2
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS -
Most of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking. There may be some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS -
Requires supervisory skills to perform at first level of supervision over entry-level workers.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND COMPETENCIES -
Ability to use computer systems/PCs, and familiarization with systems, reports, procedures, etc.
Must have some knowledge of MS Word & Excel and be able to work with spreadsheets.
Must be organized, detail-oriented yet flexible problem solver.
Must possess people management skills with ability to coach, counsel and develop personnel. .
