Position Description .
NATURE OF WORK:
This is a professional position responsible for service provision to families in the Early Childhood Birth to Three Program. This position reports to the Early Childhood Birth to Three Program Manager.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties listed may vary in terms of importance and others may be added as this position develops. In addition, specific positions within this classification may have special duties and special qualifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Administers various occupational therapy assessment tools to evaluate the client’s strengths and deficit areas and address recommendations in the following areas: motor, sensory integration, cognitive, and social/emotional.
2. Plans and implements individual occupational therapy programs for clients to facilitate habilitation and/or rehabilitation in the areas listed above.
3. Prepares for and participates in staffings.
4. Supervises occupational therapy assistants as assigned.
5. Responsible for providing all necessary documentation to Case Records and updating such documentation as needed.
6. Responsible for timely and accurate reports as required.
7. Serves as a core member of the Early Intervention Team.
8. Promotes the responsiveness of the program to the needs and preferences of the child and his/her family. This includes delivery of services in the home of the child where appropriate and feasible.
9. Provides families with information, opportunities for skill-enhancement, and support related to enhancing the child’s development.
10. Works with other providers to develop an understanding of the child’s disability and the impact of that disability on the child’s development.
11. Provides support and consultation to childcare providers and others in childcare settings and in the community at large.
12. Provides support and consultation to Family Interventionist in working with family to enhance the child’s overall development.
13. Practices and promotes safety in the workplace and settings where job duties are performed.
14. Assists in training of students and volunteers.
15. Assist in monitoring inventory and ordering relevant assessment and therapeutic materials.
16. Assists in marketing and community education activities.
17. Participates in professional in-service training programs.
18. Performs other duties as assigned.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Makes special studies, reports and recommendations on conditions and problems within the program.
2. Assists in program evaluation.
3. Assists in the development of new program components to meet the changing needs of the client population.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy. Certification from the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board, the State of Wisconsin, and the Wisconsin Medical Assistance Program as an Occupational Therapist.
The following are requirements for the job:
1. Familiarity with occupational therapy evaluation and remediation techniques utilized with specific client populations.
2. Ability to effectively relate with clients, family members and team members.
3. Ability to perform and demonstrate and teach therapy techniques.
4. Knowledge of laws and regulations governing the delivery of occupational therapy services.
5. Ability to schedule time effectively and to meet deadlines independently.
6. Desire and ability to work with culturally diverse, Birth to Three population.
7. An automobile, WI driver’s license and proper liability insurance.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bi-lingual in Spanish/English or Hmong/English.
