EarthCorps Work Team Intern
Position Description
The Global Visionaries (GV) EarthCorps Work Team (WT) Intern will lead a local community service project for high school youth. This project involves once-a-month environmental restoration work in the Seattle parks, held in partnership with EarthCorps. The position is a 10-hour a month commitment, October 2006-May 2007, with Work Team meetings on Saturdays. The WT Intern is responsible for supporting GV participants, working closely with GV staff, and collaborating with EarthCorps to lead the monthly service projects. This internship is a great opportunity to work with youth around environmental justice issues in a fun and active way!
Organization Description
Seattle-based Global Visionaries educates and empowers youth to become active leaders and global citizens who promote social and environmental justice through volunteer work at home and abroad. Global Visionaries has worked directly with over 1,000 high school youth of diverse socio-economic backgrounds since 1997. The year-long Leadership Program provides youth a global perspective empowering them to understand the intrinsic relationships between local and international social and environmental justice issues and volunteer work. A highlight of the program is the extraordinary international educational trip to Guatemala involving language and cultural immersion, volunteer work and adventure
Desired Qualifications
The EarthCorps WT Intern should have experience with environmental issues working high school youth. A passion and interest for service in our local community a must. Good communication and organizational skills also important.
