Job description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Sun is well positioned in the growing thin client market with its world class products Sun Ray and Secure Global Desktop. These products are very successful in medium to large scale deployments delivering remote desktops through technologies like Windows Terminal Services, Desktop Virtualization or Solaris/Linux based desktops.
The candidate will be part of an international engineering team responsible for the development and enrichment of the Sun Ray Virtual Desktop Infrastructure with the focus on enhancing and optimizing Sun Ray desktop management and rendering components. The role will be attractive to software developers who enjoy working in an environment where they are continually acquiring new skills, contributing to revenue generating products and working with the latest network and server technologies. The work environment is very flexible including work from home capabilities, focused on facilitating the best possible work conditions for a distributed, international team of highly skilled software developers.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:
The following would be an advantage:
* Experience with scripting languages
* Knowledge around Windows XP or Vista internals
* Experience with virtualization platforms like Xen, Vmware, VirtualBox
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
The candidate should have the following experience:
* Strong skills developing in C or C++
* Familiar with UNIX as a development environment
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE:
The candidate should have the following skills:
* Good technical skills with initial experience in development of a complex commercial product.
* Knowledge of Internet protocols and standards including TCP/IP, HTTP, RDP and of networked and distributed systems in general.
* Familiar with Open Source desktop technology (GNOME, X)
