Job Description; Kaplan K12 Learning Services creates printed materials designed to help students and teachers achieve success on standardized statewide exams. We are looking for freelance copyeditors to work on materials related to math, science, social studies, and English-language arts. Your responsibilities will include copyediting materials for mechanics and grammar, quality of writing, and academic accuracy. You must be able to familiarize yourself with text templates and coded style tags as well as think creatively and use sound judgment. The environment is fast paced, so the ability to stick to a schedule and meet strict deadlines is essential. Hours vary widely according to schedule but generally range from 10 35 hours per week during the life of a project. Pay is $20/hour and work may be completed remotely.
Qualifications:
Extremely strong English-language arts, writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Bachelor s degree, preferably in language arts, education, or a relevant content area
Familiarity with, or a background in, the relevant academic subject area
Fluency with Microsoft Word and its editorial functions, such as Track Changes and Comments
Capacity to work from home as well as Kaplan s office when required
Working knowledge of Adobe InCopy a plus
