Position Summary - Principal Network Architect
This key position will lead the creation and implementation of the enterprise voice and data architecture for OfficeMax. An expert in voice and data technology solutions and implementation, the Principal Architect also undertakes complex projects requiring specialized knowledge of voice and data technologies. Analyzes business processes and works with customers to determine and document business requirements and translates them into clear and concise technical specifications. Coordinates across multiple technology organizations to implement cost-effective technology solutions to solve complex business problems while ensuring alignment with, and promoting, the OfficeMax Enterprise Architecture strategy. Provides integrated systems planning, often coordinating multiple projects toward a common enterprise goal. Acts as a resource for direction, training, and guidance for less experienced staff. Monitors project timelines and costs. Accountable for the development of conceptual solutions architecture and responsible for working with the implementation engineers to develop detailed communications architecture and designs for solutions based on the conceptual architecture. Must have the ability to work with and coordinate multiple vendors and internal teams.
Position Responsibilities
Leads the Network domain to research, evaluate, and properly introduce new voice and data technologies as standards into the enterprise while adhering to, and mentoring others on, the Enterprise Architecture processes, proper use of new technologies
Works closely the Operations teams, Project Management, and Applications Development to understand business needs/requirements and develops the network architecture meet the business objectives.
Follow and encourage others to follow all SDLC processes and master the rules governing Enterprise Architecture process
Translate future business strategies into specific Enterprise Architecture infrastructure models to provide guidance for complex IT solutions shile andicipating the need for future changes.
Challenge existing IT paradigms where appropriate
Demonstrates a commitment to OfficeMax core values of safety, integrity, process improvement, and customer satisfaction.

Position Requirements
* Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience
* Current CCIE certification (Written &Lab)
* ITIL Certification preferred
* 7 years experience with all aspects of network operations support with in-depth knowledge of LAN/WAN architectures
* Expert proficiency in Cisco routing and switching technologies, QoS, IP Telephony (Cisco, Avaya)
* Excellent ability to write architectural design documents
* Experience with the design and implementation of MPLS
Thorough knowledge of LEC, CAP and IXC network capabilities/service offerings; NIVR, trunking, CTX, TFN, etc.
Clear understanding of the evolutionary path of TDM voice to IP in a converged network
Clear understanding of the differences of network services between the US and International carriers
Thorough knowledge of call flow within an ACD; VDNs, vectors, agent-log-in IDs, coverage path, announcements, etc.
Thorough knowledge of Contact Center applications; WFM, QA, collaboration, e-mail, blended agent, work - at - home , etc.
Thorough knowledge of VoIP solutions; UM, hoteling, follow-me services, SIP, etc
Clear understanding of ROI/TCO financial modeling
Master*s Degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other equivalent analytical or technical disciplines is preferred. 10+ years of Information Technology experience is required.
Has published a variety of computing issue documents on computer science, information science, information technology, or a related informatics disciplines from an accredited academic institution or publication.
Professional designation/certification preferred - at least of the following certifications or equivalent: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), CISCO, and Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
Demonstrated outstanding innovative use of technology, and the farsightedness necessary to make possible projects of technological significance by means of their leadership or the novel application of technology.
Demonstrated strong troubleshooting experience and an understanding of networking and distributed computing concepts.
Exceptional planning and execution skills, and possess outstanding listening and communication skills.
Must be detail-oriented, resourceful, flexible, and able to work independently.
Familiarity with complex automated system and project management life cycle practices/tools.
