Liveworld is looking for dynamic, energetic network/system administrators to help manage its
growing networks.
This multi-faceted position includes common system administration tasks for hosting co-location
site as well as company internal infrastructure and corporate networks.
Department duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Manage Java application servers (Solaris, Mac OS X, Linux)
Administer Firewalls (Juniper/NetScreen) and Routers (Juniper)
Administer Mail Servers (postfix/Mailman)
Monitor Networks and Servers for proactive fault isolation
Administer users, groups and permissions
Administer DNS records (BIND)
Proactively manage scale to support dynamic environment
Perform backups of all servers
Evaluate/Specify Hardware, Software and Services
Configure/maintain redundant storage systems, mirror/RAID, monitor quotas, disk space, etc.
Monitor system for security breaches
Provide support for workstations/PCs/Macs.
Install patches, upgrades, new operating systems
Rotate log files
Manage VPN systems
Maintain VOIP/Phone system
It is expected that the successful candidate will have direct responsibility for some, but not
necessary all of the above. Also helpful but not necessary are experience with Linux, HTML/PHP,
basic programming, perl, shell scripting, database administration (MySQL), TCP/IP
networking/routing.
The position includes periodic on-call duty rotation with other members of the team.
Multi-platform experience necessary including some combination of Mac OS/X, SuSE Linux, and
Solaris (Windows server experience not needed).

Telecommuting/ work - from - home is expected most days, with visits to the company's San Jose
datacenter and offices for meetings once or twice a week (position not viable for people outside
of the SF Bay area). .
