As an applications developer, you will work together with technologists and client-facing teams in the development of our trading platform. Over the past seven years, our applications development team has built the leading client-to-dealer corporate bond e-trading platform and connectivity to clients and dealers. Your assignments may include work on new initiatives, system enhancements, system architecture, and bug fixes. Recent projects within the API group include the following:
Client trading API which is targeted at institutional investors and hedge funds who wish to pursue algorithmic trading strategies on MarketAxess.
CDS trading API was created for our dealers. It adds support for programmatic trading of Credit Default Swap contracts on the MarketAxess platform.
TRACE data feed delivers a MarketAxess-enriched feed of over the counter secondary market transactions in eligible fixed income securities to our clients and dealers.
The nature of our platform requires skill and experience in working on real-time, high volume, highly available transactional systems and a deep understanding of programming interfaces.
Besides the API team, there are development teams for different trading product offerings, market data, trading services, and application infrastructure. We try to give our developers the opportunity to work on different teams and projects.
Although we are a publicly traded company, we are a small organization where you will have exposure to the most senior managers within technology and the company. Our environment is entrepreneurial in nature, and we reward results, creativity, and initiative. We deliver four major releases a year which require occasional long hours and/or weekend hours; however, our employees often work from home when working these extended hours.
Position Requirements
We require the following technical skills:
** Excellent Java skills
** JMS
** Enterprise RDBMS (Oracle and/or Sybase)
** XML
** Comprehensive experience in distributed computing technologies
** A solid understanding of object-oriented design patterns
** A solid understanding of multi-threaded programming
** Experience with high-speed, high-volume transaction systems
** UNIX (Sun Solaris)
** NT
** TCP/IP
Experience in the following technical skills preferred but not required:
** Swing
** JNI
** JDBC
** FIX
** FpML
Other Requirements:
** The ideal candidate has 7+ years financial services experience and solid understanding of securities trading
** Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as organizational and problem resolution skills
** Strong team-working and interpersonal skills
** Ability to deal with changing priorities
