General Overview:

Within a call center environment, provides clinical assessments, health education, and utilization management to members. Requires a current RN license in good standing, with 3-5 years recent triage or clinical experience (ICU/ER preferable, but any clinical experience involving patient assessment is acceptable), and a Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred.

The core hours for this department are 6:30 AM-9:00 PM; individual schedules are determined on a business-need basis, and will consist of 4-10 1/2 hour shifts Monday through Sunday, with at least two shifts biweekly being on Saturday and Sunday.

There is a potential for the incumbent to work from home after one year of employment.

Major Responsibilities:

Registered nurses assist the patient by providing level of care counseling ranging from emergent to self care, counseling callers on appropriate health care options, providing proactive health-status management, and identifying and managing high-risk plan participants to increase the caller's ability to make informed decisions concerning their healthcare needs.

The nurse will utilize on-line guidelines to assess medical symptoms, provide counsel on the most appropriate type of provider or facility and level of care, and assure the most appropriate use of medical services.

Additional responsibilities of the nurse include patient outreach and education on health medical questions.

Qualifications:
RN Licensure with baccalaureate degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 years nursing experience required; 5 years of nursing experience preferred. Current knowledge of general medical surgical diagnosis and medical procedures required. Outstanding assessment skills required.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills; open listening skills, ability to work in a team environment.
Proven ability to adapt to change. Proven ability to set priorities, problem-solve, and make autonomous decisions.
Excellent customer service focus. Action oriented - ability to identify problems, barriers and recommend alternatives. Shows initiative.
Computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Windows and strong typing skills required.
