Business Consultant

Job Description:

The role of business consultant within BT PS represents one of the highest exposure field positions within the consulting career track. A business consultant will be tasked with high-level consulting projects as well as business development activity and considerable involvement in development and expansion of the BT PS portfolio of services. This position requires hands on technical experience with UCC.

In consulting capacities, the business consultant will deliver services from throughout the BT PS portfolio, with specific skills in delivery of IT Strategy and Planning services. This includes services such as:

Process Governance and Architecture – With specific skills in process and governance analysis, real-world process development and implementation as well as analytical projects to drive process improvement and efficiency

IT Strategy and Integration – Involving the complete lifecycle of IT services for client, from strategic direction to meet business needs, through planning, design, implementation and operation of large scale IT initiatives

Business and Financial Analysis – Providing business-driven analysis of IT projects for clients. Including the ability to drive sourcing decisions, calculation of ROI/TCO for specific initiatives and complex insource/outsource decisions

RFP Services – Assisting and leading a client through a full RFP lifecycle for a given IT initiative for sourcing of infrastructure and services

In business development capacities, the business consultant will assist in all areas of the sales processes; interfacing directly with clients, account managers, partners and senior BT PS management to drive growth for their region and BT PS as a whole. Activities within this area that will be expected include:

New Account Identification – Prospecting of new clients through awareness of the vertical markets, industry trends and emerging challenges that face BT PS clients

Pre-Sales Participation – Assisting account managers and business development managers in discussions with clients to identify new opportunities.

Proposal Creation – Development of Statement of Work contracts and RFP responses for potential opportunities. The business consultant will be primarily responsible for determining the scope, deliverables, assumptions and parameters of potential engagements. In RFP response situations, the business consultant will lead a team to develop professional and targeted proposals to drive BT PS into positions of advantage for RFP selection

Account Strategy – Participating with regional and national business strategy for BT PS business development activities. This will include assisting in identifying and qualifying specific targeted accounts and developing realistic strategy for driving BT PS services

Partner Relations – Involvement with BT PS partners and internal partner managers to identify potential opportunities for BT PS services through partner channels, and providing targeted internal leadership to develop and expand partner-based sales

Portfolio Development – Helping to identify and develop BT PS service offerings to meet the ever-changing needs of our clients. The business consultant will suggest new or modified areas of need within the client base, and developing structured service offerings to fulfill those needs in an effective and repeatable manner

Job Requirements:

Professional services / IT consulting experience;

Superior work ethic, with flexible and client aware demeanor;

Exceptional articulation, documentation, presentation, and communication skills;

CRM Business Solutions’ experience in leading the design, development and support of CRM business solutions using application technologies, platforms and products.

Experience as a billable client-facing consultant, often working at senior levels of an organization.

Experience with Contact Center technology, e.gs. Cisco CallManager, Cosmocom, Avaya a plus

Project and Program Management

Knowledge of PM practices and standards (PMI etc.), and experience with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera, etc)

Budgeting and resource tracking skills for cost-balancing of projects

People management and conflict resolution

Business Analysis /Financial Analysis

Deconstructing business structure to identify IT service interfaces

Understanding of supply-chain, delivery and corporate management techniques

Awareness of the specific challenges and business models employed by companies within a variety of vertical market

Familiarity with regulatory influences facing specific industries (HIPPA, GLB, Sarbanes-Oxley, etc)

Identification of key business processes and revenue streams

Ability to discover and calculate TCO for individual IT services and overall IT services for a client

Security and Continuity Management

Risk analysis and quantification of business risks for security and disaster recovery vulnerabilities

Process Analysis and Design

Understanding of common process models and theories (ITIL, CoBIT, TOGAF, FCAPS, ITSM, etc)

Management of RFP processes from a client perspective

Enterprise Architecture

Understanding of applications and infrastructure models as related to business goals

Experience in IT operations management roles (Director level leadership positions)
Preferred Skills:

Telephony

Development of UCC Business Cases and Strategies

Development of internal training process

Experience with customers developoing multi-year UCC Strategites and Roadmaps

Customer experience on UCC ROI modeling

RFP response development

Experience presenting at conferences, marketing events, and to industry analysts

Education and Certifications:

Bachelors Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or 5 years IT experience

MBA preferred
