Position Summary: Responsible for direction of patient care activities in the Gero-Psychiatric Unit. Manages staff in the Gero-Psychiatric Unit, provides management of operational and nursing activities. Consults with staff, physicians and the Nurse Executive on nursing problems and interpretation of facility policies to ensure patient needs are met. Knowledgeable of a wide range of disorders; cognitive, emotional, developmental, social and behavioral. Formulates an annual budget for the unit. Performs other duties as assigned General Responsibilities: Director of Gero Psych Requirements: Bachelors Degree required, Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing preferred Masters degree in a Health related field required; Masters of Science Degree preferred. Current RN license within the state of Texas or licensed in a state that has a compact with Texas. Current BCLS Certification. Current CPI or PMAB Certification required. A minimum of two (2) years experience in diagnostic assessment, crisis intervention and therapeutic treatment of geriatric psychiatric patients. Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.
