JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Senior Performance Engineer
GENERAL SUMMARY:
You can be a resident of any state in US and work from any state as this job requires 70% traveling and 30 % - ?work from home?. A fulltime, perm job as a Senior Performance Engineer for a good size global Supply Chain Management (SCM) software company. Position comes with a good pay package + bonus.
The Senior Performance Engineer is a highly motivated and technical individual who designs and executes tests to characterize, analyze and optimize the performance of the product, a large complex Java based application running WebLogic/ Websphere, UNIX, Oracle / DB2 environments at our customer sites. The Senior Performance Engineer may also work with tuning technical deployments during or post implementations. The individual must be willing to do 70% travel to customer sites and hold a current and valid passport. The individual must have technical knowledge and understanding of operating systems and database management systems, a strong interest in load characterization of applications, the ability to code test drivers and scripts, analyze the results from a performance perspective, chase down challenging technical problems, strong debugging capabilities, a strong interest in working with server technologies, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
? Design billable performance tests at customer sites during product implementations
? Understand technical and functional requirements that must be incorporated into performance tests
? Incorporate business scenarios to be tested into performance test plans
? Design and build test scripts
? Design and build tools to automate performance tests, using tools such as Loadrunner
? Design, set up and manage performance test environments, including installing and configuring Sterling Commerce products, deploying customizations, configuring complementary products - application servers (Weblogic / Websphere), databases (Oracle / DB2), integration tools (Webmethods, MQ series), etc
? Run test scripts during performance test execution
? Run scripts to collect metrics and other evaluation data for analysis
? Troubleshoot performance related issues during performance tests
? Analyze custom code to discover potential performance issues
? Tune products used in performance tests, including products, databases, application servers
? Support customers during implementation, production deployment and / or after a ?go-live? event, by troubleshooting performance related issues, and tuning environments and products as required
? Write reports giving details of issues found, resolutions and recommended actions

REQUIRED SKILLS:
? Coding proficiency in the following: Unix Shell, SQL, Java, JavaScript, XML, HTML
? Working with J2EE technologies
? Experience with the Eclipse development environment
? Proficiency with relational database management systems: Oracle and / or DB2 coupled with a good understanding of how relational technologies relate to performance, and usage of analysis tools.
? Proficiency with application servers such as Weblogic or Websphere
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelors or a Masters degree in applicable field
EXPERIENCE: 3 ? 10 years of technical product implementation experience
DESIRED SKILLS:
? UNIX or Network Administration Skills
? Experience with any benchmarking/load test automation tools: Mercury Loadrunner
? Experience with any measuring and monitoring: Perfmon, Glance, Patrol, Spotlight
? Experience with supply chain management software
? Operational aspects of order management, fulfillment and warehouse distribution center operations
? Experience in developing or ability to develop and articulate an approach to performance assessment
? Development experience with Java/EJB and / or DBA Administration Skills
