The JReport Sales Engineer manages the technical sales cycle and provides technical sales support (e.g., product presentations, architecture reviews, application discussions, prototype development) for accounts.
This highly visible position works closely with other members of the sales team and plays play an important role in the overall success of each sales territory. The Sales Engineer reports to the Director of Sales.
Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to):
* Identify and qualify opportunities for product and services at new and existing customers. Understand customer*s key technical requirements and articulate the value proposition of JReport to those requirements.
* Deliver presentations and demonstrations of JReport software to technical and non-technical audiences.
* Build and maintain strong customer relationships as primary technical point-of-contact during pre-sales activities, implementation, and transition to post-sales support.
* Work closely with Enterprise Account Managers to build financial justification and ROI to help close sales opportunities.
* Respond to customer requests for information including the completion of RFIs and RFPs.
* Customize demonstrations to customer requirements using HTML, DHTML, Java code, and JSP/JSF.
* Work closely with customers to plan and conduct on-site "proof of concept/benchmark" tests of JReport.
* Provide weekly status updates on scheduling, pre- and post-sales account status, and other issues to Director of Sales and Management.
* Architect JReport solutions and work closely with professional services team to develop customer implementation plans as part of sales proposals.
* Work closely with JReport Product Management and Engineering to prioritize customer enhancement requests and to plan and to contribute to future product releases.
Qualifications:
* Demonstrated creative problem solving ability. Technical aggressiveness, as demonstrated by the ability to learn new technologies and business requirements for the new technologies. Record of excellence in professional and educational background.
* 1-5 years sales consulting, or customer-facing service delivery experience. Will consider candidates who have a technical or development background and who have the ability to develop customer-facing skills or related IT operations experience in an IT operations role (e.g. System Administrator (Java Preferred), Software Engineer, Development Lead, etc.) Consideration will be made for recent college graduate with relevant IT degree that posses the drive and attitude to excel in fast paced, demanding environment.
* Self-motivated and posses the ability to quickly understand complex customer IT infrastructures. Extensive experience with business intelligence or enterprise reporting technologies in one or more vertical markets and/or horizontal applications preferred.
* Effective live and web-based presentation skills with proficiency in PowerPoint and demonstrating enterprise software applications. Effective business writing skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Adobe, and Microsoft Excel.
* Must have a strong understanding of Java Application Development and Business Intelligence technologies including: RDBMS, Web, Client / Server, OLAP Experienced at successfully implementing and customizing software applications whose core technologies include Java, Web Application Servers, J2EE/Java EE 5; Data Persistence technologies including relational databases, Java Objects, XML, EJB; End User presentation technologies including HTML, DHTML, JSP, JSF, AJAX, and Taglibs.
* Need a strong understanding of SQL.
* Hands-on experience building the following technical skills: Solaris, AIX, Linux, HP-UX, Windows NT/2000 systems administration, Oracle or SQL Server database administration experience, J2EE application deployment and administration WebLogic, WebSphere, Apache, Tomcat, or other common web server, application server. Report development.
* Flexibility as demonstrated in ability to travel as required, to work from home , to work hours required to make the territory successful.

* Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent business or technical education required.
