Job Title: Commercial P&C Claims Director (Part-time)
Department: Programs Division
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports to: President, NIP Programs
Supervises: None
Travel: Very Limited

Description:
Successful National Program Administrator seeks experienced commercial property and casualty claims professional with multi-line and multi-state experience to oversee and direct carrier claims staff in the handling of business auto, general liability, property and inland marine claims. This position ideally suited for claims professional seeking to leverage their broad claims and management in a part time home office environment while contributing in a material way to the continued success of an organization. Engagement is for 25-40 hours each month and most work can be managed from their home office.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Review new claims and provide direction to company adjusters to ensure that claims are managed in compliance with the program special handling instructions. Verify claims adjuster have the appropriate strategy and are being aggressively worked to completion.
Review large and litigated claims regularly, open a dialog with company adjusters and maintain a diary to monitor developments and progress toward expedient closure.
Develop a working relationship with carrier claims executives that will facilitate the transfer of information and update special handling instructions
Review and report on the mix of claims type, frequency and severity to enable Program President to develop an understanding of emerging claims issues and trends.
Provide counsel to program underwriters regarding the disposition of specific claims and their potential impact on the underwriting decision process.
Provide counsel to NIP Group Associates with and questions that may arise with regard to typical claims handling and a policy's response to a set of loss criteria.
Report to the President of NIP Programs monthly on the above responsibilities
Qualifications/Requirements:
Candidates for consideration need to have a strong commercial multi-line and multi-state background to include auto, general liability and property claims and have experience managing supervisors. The successful candidate should demonstrate a good, solid career progression into a Senior Management position with at least 5+ years in a management role.
Need to have strong technical background, be an effective communicator to varied audiences and be capable of influencing others to consider and adopt a different approach through effective persuasion. This position reports to the President of NIP Programs.
Prefer candidates located in or near Central New Jersey.
Working Conditions:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. No or very limited physical effort required. No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
