At the American Heart Association we're working to prevent, treat and defeat our nation's No. 1 killer, cardiovascular disease. We have an excellent opportunity for a Regional Director Youth Market. The position raises funds through our school based educational fundraising program. This is a home based position that primarily covers the territory of Hartford, Tolland and Windham Counties. Candidates for this position must live in territory to be considered for this position.
While this is a home based position you work in the field visiting schools in your territory during the school day and work at home when school is not in session. This position requires you to be in the territory 85% of your time.
The ideal person for this position has at least two years of face to face outside sales or fundraising experience, is self motivated, organized, works well independently, is comfortable with public speaking and has intermediate to expert skills in Word, Excel, Outlook, and has worked with a data management program. This person must be able to travel daily to schools in their territory, to CT for monthly meetings and to NYC and Texas.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Raise dollars to support the mission and the goals of the American Heart Association
'X Retention of current schools and recruitment of new schools to participate in our programs
'X Complete total number of recruited Jump Rope and Hoop for Heart events by 6/30
'X Recruit a designated number of schools to hold Jump Rope and Hoops for Heart events by October
'X Build and Maintain relationships with in the school environment
'X Achieve a designated attrition rate for Jump Rope and/or Hoops for Heart events
2. Follow associations wide - best practices and bench marks
3. Act as AHA information liaison to schools or community groups in territory
4. Participate in any public relations efforts for events
5. Conduct school assemblies when necessary
6. Build strong, positive relationships with school personnel in territory and provide excellent customer service
7. Participate in any Affiliate wide trainings
8. Liaison with other AHA programs in territory
9. Participate in Youth Market related programs, workshops and conferences
10. Record daily activity to database management program of all work performed, contacts made, appointments, and commitments received
11. Conducting event planning meetings and setting goals to help schools raise dollars

Requirements
Ability to work independently, manage time well, organized, and resourceful
Proven sales experience
Applied knowledge and intermediate skills in windows applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and has worked with a database management program
Ability to travel in territory, to monthly Regional meetings and to NYC and Texas
Ability to speak publicly
Knowledge of school systems a plus
Some heavy lifting involved
College degree or equivalent experience
Satisfactory background checks including consumer credit, motor vehicle, and criminal history
