Job Description:

Title: Senior Solutions Architect
Location: Houston, TX

Position reports to Director of Solution Architecture in SANS department

Salary Role:

This candidate will be working with be the technical side of the sales team providing presales technical support and going to customer sites throughout the Houston area with the sales team.

Must live in the Houston area. This is a work from home position. No relocation provided but will consider out of state candidates who want to relocate themselves to Houston.

***They are looking for someone who knows EMC SANS inside and out and someone who has presales experience.

Technical Experience:

5-8 years direct experience with Storage and Network infrastructures
BS degree or equivalent work experience
Proven skills in some or all of the following products or industry equivalents:
o EMC CLARiiON, EMC Symmetrix, EMC Celerra, EMC Centera, EMC EDL, EMC Connectrix family and VSRM, EMC TimeFinder/SRDF, EMC RecoverPoint, EMC SnapView, EMC ControlCenter Family, EMC PowerPath, EMC SANCopy, and EMC Xtender products
o Cisco Datacenter, IP Telephony, Security, and Wireless products
Relevant industry certifications or equivalent experience

Database and Software
Programming background with 3GL and 4GL's.
D.B.A. experience with relational databases.
Understanding of data modeling and CASE tools.
Extensive experience in the client/server marketplace.
Oracle, MS Sequel Server, DB2 or other DB certification.
Web centric technologies and tools like Web Sphere, MS .NET.
System management software such as TSM, CA, OpenView or others.

Operating Systems

System Manager/Administrator experience and certifications with open VMS, Unix, AIX, HPUX, Linux, OS400 and/or Microsoft Windows NT.
Programming experience in C, C++, Visual Basic, XML, Java or similar languages.
Familiarity with client/server software architectures.

Groupware/Mail Integration
Systems Manager or Developer experience with groupware products such as Lotus Notes.
Familiarity with mail server/backbone products such as X.400, X.500 or Microsoft Exchange.
Experience with desktop mail clients from Microsoft, IBM and/or POP3.
Experience with Internet technologies such asWWW servers, HTML, VRML and firewalls.
Vendor certification in Windows NT.
Microsoft Certified Professional-Windows NT Server and Exchange

Platforms
Extensive experience with Compaq / HP and/or IBM systems and architectures.
Extensive experience in Clustering Technologies and general High Availability Environments.
Vendor certification in Windows NT Server, UNIX , Linux or other OS .

Storage
SAN / NAS Technologies
Switch products for copper and Fibre
RAID Technologies
Remote Data replication
Storage Management Software such as Veritas, Legato

Networks
Vendor certification in appropriate networking areas such as CCIE certified.
Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco Switching and Routing platforms
Extensive experience in designing and documenting LAN and WAN configurations.
Network administrator experience with network diagnostic and management tools.
Conversant familiarity in a broad range of network protocols and standards.

Non Technical Skills:
Strong organizational, communication, and consultative experience and skills
Experience in high-profile, stressful, customer environments
Ability to work flexible schedules, evenings and weekends, according to project requirements
Ability to travel as needed according to customer project requirements
Deliver large projects with minimal oversight and direction
Work as team on large projects taking direction from a project manager
Provide technical support to the Solutions Architects and presales teams
Self-study and independent work in lab facilities to increase job related knowledge and skills

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Architect will be responsible for designing, documenting, and presenting storage solutions for new and existing customers. The Senior Architect will be required to maintain a strong knowledge of emerging storage technologies and to provide input to the sales team and customer regarding continuous improvement opportunities. The Senior Architect will be committed to developing loyal and successful partners by clearly identifying and understanding both customer and supplier requirements and providing services and products to meet or exceed their expectations. The Senior Architect will perform all duties in accordance with Agilysys policies and procedures and all state and federal regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interact with sales team
Develop and design large scale storage or network solutions for customers
Identify customers requirements, evaluates alternatives and makes product recommendations regarding software, platform, and/or network configurations
Accompany sales personnel on customer visits to discuss requirements and to perform demonstrations
Create technical marketing presentations on software, platform, and/or network issues and software vendors which Pioneer represents
Work in coordination with customers and sales staff to resolve software, platform, and/or network design/configuration issues
Calls on customer accounts with the sales staff and demonstrates and advises customers on software, platform, and/or network configurations and capabilities
Provides technical training to sales personnel
Responsible for advising and documenting the technical plan within the assigned account plan
Excellent communications and analytical skills
Perform self-study and certification testing
Attend manufacturer sponsored training and events
Participate in manufacturer sponsored beta tests
Perform other duties as required
