Position Description
This role will primarily be a maintenance/support and on-call position. After an initial training period working with the existing support staff, the successful candidate will work in an on-call role during off-hours in a general work-from-home scenario. The successful candidate will need to come up to speed quickly on the legacy EDI environment (Solaris/AIX, perl, ksh, ftp, Cyclone, Gentran, ssh, Connect:Direct). The employee will perform maintenance activities on the legacy environment to improve the on-call capabilities as well as general maintenance of the system under the direction of the legacy team lead.
Minimum Requirements
4+ years experience in programming on enterprise or department servers or systems.
Required:
- Strong UNIX/Linux skills. Familiar with shell programming and utilization of UNIX tools (grep, awk, sed, ps, vi, make, etc.)
- Experience with database technologies (Oracle, SQL, etc.)
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Experience in working on technical development teams
- Familiar with software development methodologies
- Technical writing skills
Preferred:
- Strong background in Perl programming or equivalent
- Familiarity with internet protocols (ftp, AS2, etc.)
- Familiarity with EDI (AS2, xml, mapping, etc.)
- Background in Java programming
Education
4-year degree in computer science or related field or equivalent experience
