Description
The Ohio Casualty Insurance Company is hiring for a Safety Consultant II in the Washington, DC/Maryland/Northern Virginia area to survey prospective and new business accounts, provide loss control service to policyholders, and provide safety technical support to field office staff. Hired employee will work from home and a company car will be provided.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Completes initial surveys and loss control/accident prevention activities (i.e., accident analysis, hazard identification, training, standards and codes application, etc.).
Coordinates work assignments and territories.
Completes surveys and service reporting on computer-based program.
Provides loss control services promoting a safety culture throughout the policyholder s organization to help reduce the frequency and severity of losses.
Markets loss control services to policyholders by describing benefits and long-term cost-saving features. Interacts with agents to promote loss control services.
Communicates with underwriting departments to identify the commercial accounts that require, or could benefit from, loss control services.
Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree preferred, in Safety, Fire Protection, Fire Science, Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a Physical Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, etc.)
Three years of loss control experience with an insurance carrier, preferred
CSP, CPCU, ARM, ALCM certifcations and designations are desirable
Effective training skills
Ability to walk, bend, stoop, climb, and balance when conducting loss control/accident prevention activities at policyholder s work site
Ability to organize activities, maximize time and cost effectiveness, and meet deadlines.
Visual and aural acuity in order to identify safety hazards and exposures
Computer skills
