Lead Software Developer (VB.NET/ASP.NET)

DfR Solutions is looking for an exceptional individual to play a leading role in developing its line of products for automated reliability analysis of circuit boards. This product line will be implemented on the .net 2.0 framework as an asp.net web application.
As a key member of our team, you*ll have the opportunity to work in a high-energy, growth-oriented environment. As the ideal candidate, you will be well-versed in all phases of asp.net application development, including user interface design, business logic implementation, and data access using SQL server via ado.net. Some background in engineering, especially electrical, mechanical, or systems engineering is a plus.
Your duties will start out being very development-oriented. We have initiated phase one of our product line, including agreements with several business partners, and would expect you to dive in and produce the first-level product. Doing this will involve exercising some creativity in how you make the application work, being able to adapt and integrate a number of specialized pieces of open source software, and working with our systems engineering staff to implement some complex mathematical processes. You will have to be the kind of person who is self-motivated enough to make this happen on your own.
We will also be looking for someone who we believe can transition into a leadership role. As we grow, we will expand our team, and the knowledge and credibility you accumulate will help you to refine and expand our products on an ongoing basis.
We're flexible about work arrangements; we can accomodate the person who likes to come to the office every day or the person who needs to work from home , or at odd hours, or anything in between. We do ask that you be in the DC area (including Baltimore) so that we can meet periodically.
Responsibilities
*Understand problem domain of reliability analysis as applied to computer applications
*Translate broad organizational product goals into concrete implementation that accomplishes required functions, is efficient, and has strong user appeal
*Take ownership of company*s server systems to provide on-line web implementation of developed software
*Define, document, and communicate technical requirements for current and next generation systems
*Implement software development lifecycle practices, including requirements analysis, project management, release engineering, configuration management, and problem tracking and resolution
Requirements
*Minimum 5 years software development experience
*Significant hands-on programming experience with .net 2.0 framework, Visual Studio (currently 2005), asp.net, VB, ado.net, and SQL server
*Experience developing, deploying, and supporting web-based asp.net applications
*Talent for user interface design, including presentation and usability
*Strong mathematical skills is a plus
*Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering. A background (minor, dual major, significant coursework or work experience) in Electrical, Systems, or Mechanical Engineering provides some value.
