Business Consultant - Healthcare
Position Description
Position Summary:
The Business Consultant reports to the Director of Consulting. This position will be integral to building and defining McKesson?s newly formed Consulting Practice. The Manager will lead and oversee teams conducting strategic and operational transformation projects for major health plans or delivery systems relative to medical management and analytics. The Manager will develop proposals, business cases, organization-wide benchmarking and ROI studies, major process redesign initiatives and resulting deliverables related to performance improvement projects. In addition, they will lead a matrixed team of subject matter experts and staff and provide consulting expertise regarding multiple product lines during pre-sales/business development, the engagement lifecycle, and solution offering design. They will ensure the delivery of high quality service that is paramount to maintaining an appropriate level of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
1.Manages and executes the full project lifecycle including: proposal development, contracting, statements of work, facilitating client work-sessions, analyzing information, creating recommendations for improvement, and benchmarking against national best practices to include:
Lead strategic and operational transformation projects for large health plans and IDNs regarding design/redesign of business and clinical processes, having a direct impact on quality of patient care and cost effective delivery.
Prepares &oversees the development of project deliverables
Facilitates interaction between McKesson and client leads, playing support role at key client meetings where appropriate
Exhibits knowledge and insight regarding industry trends and associated implications for McKesson products and clients.
Maintains client satisfaction throughout each sales effort and consulting engagement

2.Oversees, coordinates and monitors subject matter experts and staff at multiple McKesson client engagements.
Manages project schedule, coordinated client involvement with other team members and develops strong relationships with key client contacts
Mentors other staff members regarding consulting process, deliverable design and relationship development. Provides performance feedback where appropriate. 20%
3.Grows the consulting practice by identifying consulting opportunities and working with the Director of Consulting to deploy new, valuable and profitable services 20%
Minimum Requirements
Business Experience ?
7+ years healthcare business experience, of which 3+ years were in a consulting position, preferably with a nationally focused consulting firm.
Client relationship and management, project management, team lead experience. Ability to be successful in a client environment with a small project team is essential.
Strong health plan domain knowledge resulting from experience in health plan medical management, consulting or as a health plan vendor.
Self-starter is essential. Ability to assist in definition of consulting practice.
Project Management skills: workplan creation, management and execution, meet deadlines, identify risks affecting work progress and possible solutions, status reporting, people management.
Specialized Knowledge/Skills ?
Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills
Strong analytical skills and facility with analytical tools like Excel, Access or Visio.
PowerPoint experience a must.
Executive/professional presence
Travel requirements - 30-60% depending on project assignments. Position is remote/work at home - must be located near a major airport.
Education
Education/Training ?
MBA, MPH or MHA preferred.
BS/BA required
