Connections Academy, a school without walls , is a virtual educational program serving K 10 students in a non-classroom-based environment. A Parent or Learning Coach along with a certified teacher work with students using a standards-based, online/offline hybrid curriculum supported by a host of web-based technology tools and resources. Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for the quality of our software applications, specifically our Learning Management System (LMS), by establishing and implementing testing procedures, managing staff, and managing builds and releases.
Duties:
Manages the initial investigation of incoming bug reports.
Works with Web developers to establish an appropriate testing plan for each project, understanding the balance between zero defects and management's deadlines.
Manages the building of each project to our test and staging servers, which involves route methods of building Web and SQL files for each environment.
Oversees and assists with the testing operations of our application.
Schedules the release of projects, by determining project bundles and overseeing the appropriate release time schedule (which is often during non-peak hours).
Enhances team accomplishments and competence by productively working with other members of the team.
Establishes and maintains testing policies, procedures, and standards.
Accomplishes department and organization missions by completing related tasks as needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Requirements:
The individual in this position will be working with a team of developers, DBAs, and designers. Due to the nature of this position, the applicant will need the ability to work from home or during off-hours as necessary. Candidates must have:
At least two years of experience testing server-side Web applications.
An extremely detail-oriented work ethic.
Experience managing others.
Excellent writing skills with experience translating technical information into end user-friendly terminology.
High-speed Internet access at home and a personal computer.
The ability to demonstrate work experience by providing work samples.
In addition, the ideal candidate will have experience with:
Testing ASP.NET applications.
Writing basic HTML.
Using Query Analyzer to run database queries.
Other development-oriented tools such as Visual Studio for building Web files and SourceGear's Vault for managing versions of files.
