The purpose of the department is: Develop education curriculum, facilitator guides and participant materials. Revised existing education curriculum and materials as needed. Deliver education and training of products, technology and agency processes to newly appointed agents. Deliver education of products, technology, sales skills and grant binding authority for both new and incumbent agency staff. Assist with product and technology introductions to the field.
The scope of this job is: Requires occasional, sometimes frequent, overnight travel primarily in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana. Travel may be as long as a week. Occasionally some evenings and/or work from home via laptop. Assignments will include development of curriculum, education materials and presentations, conducting web conferences, facilitating classroom training and delivering presentations to as many as 100 people.
The individual will be responsible for:
1. Developing new education curriculums and associated materials and revise current course offerings where needed.
2. Educating newly appointed agents both technical skills and product knowledge in a classroom setting with subsequent follow-up visits to agencies.
3. Delivering education to new and incumbent agency staff.
4. Learn to develop, establish and conduct Web Conferences. Learn the unique skills necessary to effectively deliver education via this venue.
5. Develop presentations for classroom and Web Conferences education using adult learning methods.
The skills required are:
1. Intermediate - Creativity: to develop and enhance classroom education and presentation materials
2. Intermediate - Ability to develop education courses and materials from a wide variety of resources
3. Intermediate - Must be articulate and utilize proper grammar in daily conversation and development of written materials. Convey pride in work. Maintain professional appearance.
4. Advanced - Presentation skills in facilitating classes and leading discussions for both small and very large groups. Also must excel in one-on-one coaching and tutoring.
5. Intermediate - Ability to assimilate new information quickly. Demonstrates initiative to enhance knowledge and skill levels. Does not need to be monitored closely.
Experience Required:
Experience in technical writing and course development - 3 years. Experience in presenting material to diverse groups - 2 years. Experience with composing and managing large volumes of e-mail. Experience in development of educational materials - 3 years. Demonstrated ability in multi-tasking. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks at hand. Flexible when priorities and projects suddenly change. Initiative to persevere in pursuit of critical information and in seeing projects through to completion.
Computer Proficiency:
Intermediate PowerPoint. Intermediate to Advanced Outlook. Basic Excel skills. Intermediate Word skills. Access a plus, but not required. HTML familiarity and Web design skills a plus, but not required.
