DESCRIPTION .
The Ohio Casualty Insurance Company is hiring for a Commercial Lines Marketing Representative in the East Texas territory to market company products and services to independent property and casualty agents within an assigned geographic territory. Produce and profitably underwrite commercial lines business within the assigned territory in accordance with company objectives and policies. Solicit new agent relationships and assess the advisability of appointing new agencies to write commercial lines business for the company. Act as a liaison between company and agent, resolving problems and communicating necessary information. Selected candidate will work from home and a company car will be provided. Company will consider paying relocation expenses.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Produces, quotes, and profitably underwrites risks both from a new business and renewal retention standpoint.
Works with and develops positive working relationships with some Key Producers and other assigned agents within territory. Manages an average territory size of above average importance for company.
Selects, underwrites, and prices certain customer segments of new commercial lines business of a moderately complex nature within delegated underwriting authority.
Solicits new relationships, negotiating with new accounts, performing analyses, and deciding whether to appoint agents/agencies. Terminates agency relationships when necessary. Provides recommendations to regional manager in regards to Agency Bonus Agreements, Commission Schedules, and any other incentive agreement(s).
Effectively monitors agents performance (production, types and quality of submitted accounts, premium growth, loss ratio, submission activity, hit ratio, etc.). Negotiates and establishes business plans to enhance agency performance.
Maintains good understanding of company produced reports to clearly relay information to assigned agents.
Promotes and develops agents for the Key Producer Program. Executes Key Producer Program agreements. Monitors performance of assigned agents within the program.
Educates agents about company products, services, eligibility guidelines, and pricing philosophy, as well as sales and cross-selling techniques.
Develops strong understanding of company commercial lines agency interface systems. Solicits and trains assigned agents for agency interface.
Provides support to agents by assisting with customer accounts, facilitating resolution of account statement discrepancies, and offering other technical and administrative expertise.
Conducts ongoing market analysis, including competitor positioning, changes in legal issues, and regulatory guidelines. Recommends coverage, pricing, and workflow enhancements. Compiles information relating to rate reviews, and proposes recommendations to regional manager and/or senior marketing representative.
Develops a positive working relationship and strong rapport with team leaders, underwriters, and account representatives within business center. Works with team to exceed customer and producer expectations for service. Manages and intervenes on service issues and other producer or customer concerns. .
REQUIREMENTS .
Bachelor s degree or equivalent work experience; insurance courses desirable
Two years insurance experience as an underwriter or trainee
Good understanding of insurance products and services and commercial lines underwriting/rating guidelines
Demonstrated selling and negotiation skills
Ability to create and access information using personal computer
Knowledge of federal and state laws applying to agency licensing and policy issuance/renewals/cancellations .
