The Senior Data Specialist shall provide analysis, development and support of business reporting requirements and create effective and efficient solutions. This individual will be responsible for the design/development of ETL and batch load data processes. This includes design/ development of efficient Star-Schema designs to support Enterprise and Customer Specific Data Marts. Will assist team members with training, design and architecture of day to day and project tasks.
Tasks include:
Design reporting solutions to meet business requirements
Assist in developing data models, as well as logical and physical database design, with a major focus on dimensional modeling
Develop processes using ETL tools (Data Integrator), PL/SQL and SQL to support business reporting requirements.
Design and develop ETL processes, data flows, and Data Marts based on business requirement specifications.
Manage and share 24x7 production support of existing ETL and data loading processes
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Solid experience working in a Data Warehouse environment (no less than 5 years)
Solid experience with and understanding of efficient data processing
Solid experience in dimensional modeling techniques
High level of experience with ETL, PL/SQL and Oracle.
Data Warehouse performance tuning experience.
Proven ability to translate ideas into practical code.
Experience mentoring analyst programmers.
Excellent Communications skills.
Enthusiasm and drive.

Our client has an immediate need for a Business Objects Data Integrator administrator with Informatica experience. Informatica will ultimately be moved to BO DI. The client is utilizing Business Objects DI 6.5 and XI and in the process of moving the 6.5 to XI. The ETL enviornment consists of some large data sets, 2 primary fact tables, one 95M rows, the other is 86M and is on a datamart that consumes about 100GB (just data space, not index space).
Looking for a candidate that truly understands ETL and how to optimally use the DI tool. Informatica knowledge is important in order to share support with another person. After hours support is required and is mostly in the mornings, if the job fails, it will alert by pager. Failure is NOT the norm. Support is largely monitoring the jobs and providing ETA s for load completion. The first notification is expected by 7 am if the load will go past 8. There is VPN access and much of the time support personnel work from home until the load time is fairly determinable or done. Support is required on weekends as well. Saturdays are currently busy from a monitoring perspective, but rarely are there actual failures. Pager is typically one week on, one week off.
