Description

TECHNICIAN/ENGINEER, FIELD SERVICE

Our client, a nationally recognized leader and supplier of electronic sign equipment for the transportation industry, is seeking a full time Field Service Technician to join its staff and work from an at-home location in or near Phoenix, AZ.

Major duties shall include the troubleshooting, repair and preventive maintenance of existing AZ DOT variable message signs, technical support and product training for AZ DOT personnel. Occasional or supplemental duties may include supervising and assisting contractors with their unloading, assembly, and/or erection of large electronic signs and associated electronic cabinets, wiring and terminating of electrical equipment, and product site testing to demonstrate compliance with customer specifications.
The candidate may also install, test, configure, troubleshoot and train others on computerized equipment and custom software that communicates over a remote control network (WAN or other).

Approximately 70% of time will entail travel within AZ. Approximately 25% of time will be spent working at home, or as required by company needs, to provide phone support, board repairs, equipment configurations, etc. The remaining time may require travel to other states, to the main office in New England or to the parent company in France.

A BSEE or BSEET is highly desired, along with a minimum of 4 years experience in servicing microprocessor-based equipment and communication devices. Hands-on field experience, including related military experience, is an asset that skilled personnel should highlight in their application. The successful applicant must be a self-directed leader with good communication skills, be willing to travel extensively and to work in a demanding outdoor highway construction environment. A good mechanical aptitude, excellent writing skills, the ability to clearly relate technical information, and a familiarity with DOS, Windows 9x, NT 4.0, 2000, XP operating systems and networking are valuable assets.

Salary will be commensurate with the level of experience and value-added skills you bring to this position. Company benefits include excellent Blue Cross of RI health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, 401(k), paid vacation, discretionary annual bonuses/profit sharing and long term disability insurance. Company pickup truck will be provided for transportation.

Our client is part of a large multi-national group. However, this position provides considerable challenges and opportunities for personal growth in a small, friendly, company atmosphere.
