** Long-term contract for SQL DBA Remote support - Work - from - home **
An experienced SQL Server DBA is needed to provide physical SQL Server DBA
support for off the shelf and custom application systems in support of a
commercial customer. Support responsibilities include:
- SQL Server 2000 and 2005 installation on Intel;
- physical database administration on Intel as well as scripting;
- Standard DBA functions including: database backups; restore databases; run
reorgs; analyze space, performance monitoring; database problem determination
and resolution; database performance tuning; implementation of new databases;
maintenance for existing databases; implementation and maintenance of security
and database monitoring activities.
- Working with replication and clustered environments (must have previous
experience with replication and clustering).
This is a first shift, Monday Fri position (eastern time zone), but there is
also an on-call element as needed. Expect a 46 to 50 hour work week on average.
Requirements:
* Experienced with installation of SQL Server 2000 and 2005 on Intel
platform.
* Experienced with physical database administration for SQL Server
including backup/restore procedures, reorgs, space utilization, performance
monitoring and tuning, problem determination and resolution
* Must have strong knowledge of SQL Server replication and clustered
environments.
* Must have scripting skills/experience.
* Candidates must have solid oral and written communication skills.
This position is compensated hourly as a w-2 or independent 1099. Benefits are
not provided, however a 401k with partial company match is offered to w-2
employees.
