We are presently seeking a SQL Server DBA / Architect to join our team here in Tampa.
The candidate needs to be able to work in an intense environment, and one which is an open forum. Additionally, the candidate needs to be able to make recommendations and to be flexible. Candidate can work from home part of the time. Most consultants are in the office two days a week. This flexibility allows for them to put in odd hours if necessary. The candidate must be able to work forty to fifty hours per week, possibly sixty hours per week. The end-sponsor maintains high expectations and is deeply involved with this group. Meetings with upper-level executives may be required on a weekly basis.
Skills required:
* Experience with SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005. Migration is presently occurring between the two.
* The candidate will be expected to assist with database performance issues and optimize data flow. The group is using SSIS which replaced DTS. The candidate must have an understanding of DTS because of the legacy systems. With SSIS, the data is pulled from an FTP site, unzipped and transferred to a flat file. The client uses Maestro to extract data. The ETL is handled through SSIS. Knowledge of ETL is essential.
* The candidate must have experience with Triggers and indexing.
* The candidate must possess the ability to write applications for loader processes.
* The candidate must be at least knowledgeable in C# or have the ability to code. Other skills that the client would like to see are Framework 2.0, Webservices, SOAP.
* XML is required. Must be familiar with XML structures. The reason for the .Net experience is that there are applications written in .Net which connect with the databases. The candidate must be able to understand the high-level architecture.
