Travel Sales Representative
Showcase the work of the Convention & Visitors Bureau primarily to local media by using sales tactics to promote Rainbow County.
Create, write, edit and distribute press releases and newsletters that showcase Convention & Visitors Bureau operations, activities, and successes to the local media.
Serve as media spokesperson for the Convention & Visitors Bureau for print and broadcast media.
Staff occasional media and travel shows throughout the United States during the year.
Conduct media sales calls in and around cities where travel shows are being held, frequently in the greater Minneapolis area.
Conduct follow-up with travel trade and consumer media where necessary.
Assist with escorting familiarization tours within Rainbow County; act as host for these tours. • Work with local tourism industry on public relations initiatives and develop story ideas to sell to targeted media.
Coordinate shipment of collateral materials for travel shows and press kits, where appropriate.
Develop and maintain database of travel industry and consumer media leads resulting from sales activities and other research.
Provide timely sales and expense reports to department head and Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Represent Public Relations Manager when appropriate with industry committees, Convention & Visitors Bureau Board and others.
Lead and attend selected public relations sales missions to key cities.
Conduct telephone sales with prospective and current clients to generate additional positive editorial coverage for the destination.
Conduct follow-up with prospects and appropriate local industry representatives.
Issue public relations sales leads to appropriate local industry representatives.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
