Kettle Operator
Weigh solid or liquid chemical additives, using balance or floor scale.
Dump ingredients into kettle, using overhead hoist.
Turn valves to load kettles with monomer, catalyst, and modifier solutions.
Start agitator and turn steam or water valves to activate and control polymerization.
Observe and record dial and gauge readings, and draw and test samples to determine degree of completion of polymerization.
Turn valves to release vacuum and to cool batch to terminate polymerization.
Start pumps to transfer nonreacted materials to rerun tank.
Flush kettle with water and change filter socks, and clean kettle, using brushes and cleaning solvents.
Remove reactor cover and manually dump catalyst in reactor.
