Cardiovascular Technologist
Review and record pertinent patient history and supporting clinical data.
Perform appropriate clinical procedures and obtain a record of anatomical, pathological, and physiological data for interpretation by a physician.
Perform cardiovascular diagnostic and therapeutic services.
Assist in a variety of special and complex invasive cardiovascular procedures.
Assist the Cardiologist in the performance of all cardiac invasive procedures.
Responsible for the operation of cardiac imaging and monitoring equipment and the preparation of supplies necessary for the procedure.
Assist patients/families in achieving outcomes through evaluation and assessment of needs, education, and participates in the delivery of care.
Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization and balloon angioplasty by first positioning them on an examining table and then shaving, cleaning, and administering anesthesia to the top of their leg near the groin.
Monitor patients' blood pressure and heart rate with EKG equipment and notify the physician if something appears to be wrong.
Prepare and monitor patients during open-heart surgery and the implantation of pacemakers.
