Draw outline of pattern parts, using drafting instruments such as calipers, squares, and straight and curved rules.
Draw details on outlined parts to indicate guides in joining parts.
Draw patterns for range of garment sizes, grading master pattern for each size, using charts or grading device.
Draw lines between reference points, producing outline of graded pattern.
Position and cuts out pattern, using scissors and knife.
Trace outline of specified pattern onto material and cut fabric, using scissors.
Trace outline of paper onto cardboard pattern, and cut pattern into parts to make template.
Examine sketches or sample articles and design specifications to ascertain number, shape, and size of pattern parts.
Calculate dimensions and specifications from sales order and enter data on worksheet.
Position master pattern on paperboard and draft reference points based on data from charts.
Position master pattern in clamp of grading device, place paperboard under pattern, set device to specified size, and mark reference points.
