Springfield, MO - Last year was the highest paying year on record for 3D artists and animators. Now, thanks to a young entrepreneur by the name of Brian Huebert, prospective 3D art students are learning how to get started in the field.
His site is Skulpt.com (http://www.skulpt.com) and his goal is nothing less than providing the best resource for potential 3D artists looking for a starting point into this exciting field of work.
"By far, one of the hardest things about becoming a 3D artist or animator is just finding out where to start," said Brian. "There's a lot of conflicting information out there. That's why I created a place that's straight forward and informs people, step by step. You would be surprised how many 3D related sites assume you have a proficiency and understanding of 3d design already. I hope to change that by providing 3D career information starting with the basics."
Brian says that most would-be animators come to the site with dreams of working for Disney or Pixar, not even realizing there's a million other animation jobs out there.
"When most people think of a 3D animator, their mind conjures up thoughts of someone working on films like Finding Nemo and Toy Story, but there's only so many jobs at Disney and Pixar," said Brian. "When people learn there are hundreds of other fields a 3D animator can work in, some of them higher paying than Pixar and Disney, they get excited."
In fact, what many employers are looking for are Web animators. The Department of Labor predicts that among all the graphic design fields, Web animators will have the inside track to the greatest number of openings through 2014.
"Now is the perfect time to start a career in 3D animation," said Brian. "If someone doesn't know where to start, I urge them to take a look at our site. It's free and think it's a perfect place to start learning about 3D related careers."
