New York, NY - Astron Solutions was honored to win four awards in the last two weeks. Two of the awards came from the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC) for Astron's employee transit program. The other two awards came from Apex Awards for Publication Excellence for Astron's on-line publications.
On Thursday, June 26th, Astron received two awards from NYMTC for the 2008 Regional Commuter Choice Awards. The first was for outstanding achievement, which recognized Astron for its pre-tax employee public transit program. Employees can put up to one hundred fifteen dollars from their pay, before taxes, towards this program to pay for commuting costs. The second award was for Regional Excellence, recognizing the creativity in Astron's bike to work program.
On Monday, July 7th, Astron received the two Apex awards. The first award recognized the organization's bi-weekly e-zine publication, Astronology. The second award recognized the organization's weblog (commonly known as a 'blog'), Astron Solutions World of HR.
"Considering the small size of our organization, we are very honored to have been the recipient of these awards," says Astron Solutions co-founder and National Director, Jennifer C. Loftus, SPHR, CCP, CBP, GRP. "It was worth the effort to submit, although we realized that organizations with fewer than 15 employees do not often receive such recognition. Talk about a very pleasant surprise!"
Astron Solutions' employees currently save a bit over 1,400 single occupancy vehicle car miles each year by using the employee transit program. 100% of the employees participate in green commuting methods, including mass transit, walking to work, and telecommuting. These actions, combined with Astron's wellness program for bikes purchased and used by employees, helped Astron earn the Regional Leadership Award.
Astronology has been a part of Astron Solutions for nine years. It is a bi-weekly publication. Subscriptions are free. Astronology currently has over 3,500 subscribers. Astron Solutions World of HR has been an active blog since 2005, with free subscription options available.
