WASHINGTON - Investors will be getting an eagerly-awaited update on employment when the Labor Department releases its June jobs report later this week.

Other items of economic interest in this holiday-shortened week include auto sales for June and pending home sales during May.

Things get rolling this morning when the Institute for Supply Management takes a look at how the manufacturing sector of the economy was doing last month. Analysts surveyed by Thomson Financial expect the ISM index to come in at 54.5 following a reading of 55 in May. Anything above 50 indicates the sector is growing.
